Driving along da coast road from Kailua to Hawaii Kai, you must pass through the
sleepy little town of Waimanalo. Only 3 miles long, it takes you to a different, more "laid-back"
way of life in Hawaii. Waimanalo has pristine sandy beach along da entire stretch on one side of da road,
and the other side is dotted with unusual little shops, villages, and farmlands. Waimanalo is "Country".
Here are a few places that make Waimanalo so unique:
This colorful shop is "Naturally Hawaiian".
It features many Artists collections, while educating
people about Hawaii's unique cultural heritage.
Many vendors set up along da highway selling everything from Kalua Pig and steaming Lau Lau, to Shave Ice.
Here, we have a colorful "Rasta Sale" set-up. I think I'll stop and have a look around.
I really am a Bob Marley Yorkie at heart !!
Several buildings are brightly painted with ocean-life scenes.

There is no Safeway - There is no Foodland - There is no Albertsons, no Smiths,
no big chain Supermarkets in Waimanalo.
There IS SHIMA's !!
L&L Drive-Inn is one "Ono~licious" (Dat means "Oh SO Good Yum Yum In My Tum" ) place fo' eat plate lunch !
When passing thru Waimanalo, you MUST stop at da Corn Lady truck (usually parked next to L&L)
She sell DA SWEETEST, BESTEST Waimanalo grown corn around. It
is ONO-LICIOUS, an sometimes we make a special trip
all da way out here for dis mouth~watering treat !
"I'll take two bags, paw-eeze ! MAHALO !!"
A sight like dis on the side of da road is not at all unusual in Waimanalo !

Dis is da view from da other side of da road. Miles and miles of beautiful turquoise ocean.
I have been told that BAYWATCH was filmed here on dis beach, but I wouldn't know.
Mommy doesn't let me watch BAYWATCH.
In a few places, da ocean comes right up to da road.
They have actually had to close one lane to rebuild the road that the water is overtaking.
But don't worry, I'm sure they will have it finished by da time you arrive !
